The Château de Vincennes

Château de Vincennes

The Château de Vincennes is a fortress! Medieval castle to the max complete with stone walls that are 10 feet thick and a stone lined moat! There are drawbridges and a dungeon, you can even explore the old latrines… if that piqués your interest!

I was most enamored by the cathedral, Sainte Chapelle de Vincennes, but it’s closed for the next couple of weeks for some housekeeping. I’ll be back to check it out and share more on the cathedral later.

This castle though!! It’s been around for a while. Construction began in the 12th century and it was a royal residence until 1808 when it became a military stronghold for Napoleon.

Where are my Reign fans at?! This is the castle that Henry II and Catherine Medici lived in during the 1500s!
